Reliance Jio IPO 2026: October Launch, Size, Valuation and Latest Updates

By Ananya Varma
Reliance Jio Platforms is moving closer to what could become India's largest-ever initial public offering, with the company expected to complete the final stages of preparations for a potential stock-market debut later this month.
Jio Platforms, the digital services arm of Reliance Industries, has completed overseas investor roadshows and is now working towards finalising its public-offer documents. Recent reports indicate that the company could list by the end of October 2026, subject to regulatory processes and market conditions.
When could the Jio IPO open?
The exact IPO dates have not been officially announced.
According to people cited in recent reports, the public issue could open for subscription between October 21 and October 23, with the anchor book potentially opening on October 19. The shares could then make their stock-market debut around October 28.
These dates remain tentative and could change depending on market conditions and the company's final decision.
Business Standard has separately reported that Jio Platforms could be listed by the end of October, with final IPO papers expected to be filed with SEBI during the week beginning October 12.
How large could the Jio IPO be?
The proposed offering is expected to raise around $3.8 billion, making it potentially the largest IPO in India's history.
The issue is expected to consist entirely of a fresh issue of shares, rather than an offer for sale by existing shareholders. Jio Platforms' board had earlier approved a fresh issue of up to 27 crore equity shares with a face value of ₹10 each.
The final issue price and valuation have not yet been determined.
Jio IPO valuation
Recent reports suggest that Jio Platforms could command an enterprise valuation of approximately $143 billion to $146 billion, equivalent to more than ₹12 trillion.
Earlier market estimates had placed the potential valuation considerably higher or lower depending on the assumptions used, so investors should treat the current figures as indicative until Jio Platforms announces its final price band and valuation.
Where will the IPO money go?
A major portion of the proceeds is expected to be used to reduce debt.
According to recent reports, around ₹27,500 crore of the IPO proceeds could be used to repay or prepay borrowings of Reliance Jio Infocomm, with the remaining amount allocated towards general corporate purposes.
This means the IPO would also strengthen the financial position of Jio Platforms and its telecom business.
What exactly is being listed?
One important distinction for investors is that the IPO is for Jio Platforms, rather than simply the telecom operator Reliance Jio Infocomm.
Jio Platforms houses Reliance's digital businesses, including Reliance Jio's telecom operations. The company has expanded beyond mobile connectivity into areas such as broadband, enterprise technology, cloud, artificial intelligence and digital services.
Jio's massive customer base
Reliance Jio remains India's largest telecom operator by mobile subscriber base.
Recent company and industry data cited in reports put Jio's mobile customer base at around 506 million, while its 5G customer base stood at approximately 268.5 million as of June 2026.
Jio has also become a major player in fixed wireless access and claims one of the world's largest 5G standalone networks outside China.
Strong financial performance
Jio Platforms reported a 15% increase in profit after tax to ₹30,053 crore in FY26, while annual revenue increased by approximately 14.5% to ₹1,46,885 crore, according to Business Standard.
The company's scale and financial performance are among the factors likely to attract institutional and retail investors to the IPO.
What about Reliance Industries shareholders?
The separate listing of Jio Platforms is also significant for existing Reliance Industries shareholders.
Jio's standalone listing could help the market assign a separate valuation to Reliance's digital businesses, potentially making the value of Jio more visible to investors.
However, investors should not assume that Reliance Industries shareholders will automatically receive free Jio shares unless Reliance officially announces such a distribution structure. The current IPO structure and ownership arrangements should be checked against the final prospectus.
Jio IPO could become a landmark listing
The Jio Platforms IPO is being closely watched because of its size, the company's enormous customer base and its position within Reliance Industries.
If the reported timeline holds, Jio could enter India's public markets during the October 2026 festive period.
However, the final IPO dates, price band, issue valuation and listing date are still subject to official confirmation.
For investors, the most important documents to watch next will be Jio Platforms' final offer documents and the company's official announcements to the stock exchanges.
