Elon Musk Becomes Trillionaire Again: SpaceX, Tesla Shares Rise

By Ananya Varma
Elon Musk has once again crossed the $1 trillion wealth mark, becoming the world's only trillionaire after a sharp rise in the value of his holdings in SpaceX and Tesla.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Elon Musk's fortune increased by approximately $65 billion in a single day to $1.04 trillion as shares in both companies gained.
Elon Musk's Wealth Crosses $1 Trillion Again
The latest surge marks Elon Musk's return to trillionaire status after he briefly lost the distinction following a decline in SpaceX and Tesla shares.
SpaceX shares have risen approximately 13% since the beginning of October, while Tesla has gained around 6.7% during the same period, according to Bloomberg data.
Elon Musk's fortune is particularly sensitive to movements in the two companies because his stakes in SpaceX and Tesla account for more than 98% of his net worth, according to the Bloomberg wealth index.
SpaceX Rally Drives Renewed Optimism
SpaceX has been a major factor behind Elon Musk's latest increase in wealth.
The company's shares have recovered significantly from their August low, with Bloomberg reporting that they have rebounded about 58%.
Morgan Stanley analysts recently described SpaceX as an attractive way to gain exposure to the potential growth of the space and intelligence sectors, adding to investor optimism around the company.
The renewed interest comes only months after SpaceX's landmark public-market debut.
Tesla Also Contributes to the Rise
Tesla has also played an important role in Elon Musk's return to trillionaire status.
The electric-vehicle company's shares have risen in recent trading, while its latest quarterly sales figures came in better than analysts had expected.
The improvement in Tesla's market value added further support to Elon Musk's personal fortune.
Elon Musk Previously Became the World's First Trillionaire
Elon Musk first crossed the trillion-dollar wealth threshold in June 2026, following a major rise in SpaceX's value after its record-breaking initial public offering.
However, the milestone was short-lived. SpaceX shares subsequently declined amid concerns over the company's high valuation, causing Elon Musk's wealth to fall below $1 trillion.
Bloomberg reported that by late July, Elon Musk had experienced a decline of more than $600 billion from his peak, an extraordinary reversal even by billionaire-wealth standards.
Why Elon Musk's Wealth Changes So Quickly
Unlike conventional income, billionaire wealth is largely tied to the value of company shares and private-company stakes.
As a result, Elon Musk's net worth can change by tens of billions of dollars within a short period when the valuations of SpaceX or Tesla move significantly.
Elon Musk's latest return to trillionaire status demonstrates how closely his personal wealth is linked to investor sentiment surrounding his companies.
Elon Musk Remains Far Ahead of Other Billionaires
Elon Musk's latest $1.04 trillion fortune puts him substantially ahead of the world's other richest individuals.
Forbes' latest figures also put Amazon founder Jeff Bezos far behind Elon Musk, with a reported fortune of about $371 billion.
Elon Musk's position at the top of the global wealth rankings is therefore not only the result of his return to trillionaire status but also the enormous gap between his estimated fortune and that of other billionaires.
What Comes Next for Elon Musk?
Elon Musk's wealth will continue to fluctuate with the performance of his companies.
SpaceX's expansion in space technology and artificial intelligence, combined with Tesla's performance in the automotive and AI sectors, will remain important factors for investors watching Elon Musk's fortune.
For now, Elon Musk has once again entered the trillionaire club—just months after becoming the first individual in history to reach the milestone.
